And now for something completely random: according to a source in Chile - and now picked up by Sky Sports - Chelsea have agreed to give a two-week trial next month to a 20-year-old Chilean goalkeeper named Felipe Ochagavia.
Yeah, I don't know either.
Apparently it all stems from our connection with O'Higgins, the team from which we signed Cristian Cuevas, who is currently plying his trade on loan at some seventeenth division side in the Netherlands. It was during a scouting trip last year to see Cuevas that Ochagavia, the third-choice goalkeeper in the squad, impressed our head of international scouting Scott McLachlan. McLachlan was hand-picked by Michael Emenalo at the start of last season - if he and his scouting skills are good enough for the man with the cool shades, they're good enough for me.
"When they came to sign Cuevas last year, they watched me train and liked my style. They talked with the board and then with me. We had more official talks in March, I talked with Cristian and he told me that everything was spectacular."
"I am sure everything will turn out good."

Of course, it's just a trial and trials are hardly guarantees of anything. But it's never not a good time to be on the lookout for top tier talent. Good luck, Felipe.
Here's the requisite YouTube highlights video of the tall (195cm!), lanky player. His build is in the prototypical Petr Cech / Thibaut Courtois realm.
