This from Di Marzio citing Antonio Ruiz, who is apparently a Spanish journalist with close ties to Atletico Madrid: although we don't have an official announcement yet Thibaut Courtois will remain at the Vicente Calderon next season after signing an extension with Chelsea.
Obviously a Courtois contract extension is nothing short of fantastic news. Chelsea own one of the hottest properties in world football, and with his contract set to expire in two years it looked as though we were on course for a serious dilemma this summer. If Di Marzio's story is true, this is basically the best possible outcome -- we get to keep hold of Petr Cech while giving Courtois another year of development at the very top level, without the threat of losing the youngster either.
In other words: let's hope this is true. Right now it's not clear just how trustworthy this report is, but with Courtois saying to expect an announcement on his future by the end of next week, we won't have to wait too long to find out one way or another.
