Tactics cost the Palace Game and why we can still win the Title

Jose Mourinho, in his post match interview blamed the midfield and attack for not being consistent. And at the same time branded the Defence as incredible. But, Palace was one of the worst collective defensive performance of the Chelsea Defence since early November.

The basic Mantra of Football is, if you don't concede then your chances of winning the game are higher.

But by the formation employed by Mourinho, indicateed either underestimation of Our local rivals or a lack of knowledge of Palace's Strengths.Being the Special One, I assume it to be the former.

A 4-3-3 formation against a Palace Team with Wingers was a big Tactial error which was evident in the opening exchanges of the game when Puncheon,Mariappa and Bolasie skinned Azpi and Ivanovic which has rarely happened this season.I expected Mourinho to change the Formation to our prefered 4-2-3-1 but that was not the case and ultimately a cross from the Left wing cost us the game.

Now lets analyse the Tactical Errors that cost us the Game:

1) 4-3-3 against a team with no creativity at the Centre meant we were going to dominate midfield and Luiz and Lampard will pierce the defence, but Lampard was poor for his high standards and Luiz was good but unfortunately injured.

2) A 4-2-3-1 with Schurrle-Hazard-Oscar/Salah would have provided greater defensive cover for our fullbacks as Hazard yesterday was evidently in no mood of Tracking Back.

3) This might be the game which kills any possibility of Torres remianing at SW6 next season and (though he cannot be blamed due to lack of playing time but i thought BA was poor)

All and all, if Mourinho could have switched his formation, place hazard at the Centre from the Start , we could have increase his impact on the game and could have come back from Palace with more than Empty Hands.

P.S Man City further displayed their Attacking Supremacy but more importantly for us, Defensive Fraility as they dont mark deep runners from midfield, and with Games against Everton, Liverpool and Southampton coming up, all having superb midfield scorers, City will Drop points in Minimum 4 games, its upto us, whether we play like we plyed against Palace or Show some champion quality and string a 6 game league winning run.

This is my first article on SB so any suggestions would be of great help
