Hello everyone. As a full disclaimer, I can hardly even be considered a lurker here, but I do check in from time to time to see if there are any new developments I need to be aware of for the fantasy blog I write for (Never Manage Alone, here on SBNation). That said, I come to you in the hope that you'll be able to help me despite my lack of connection with any of you.
I am going to be traveling to London from April 11-21 with my girlfriend, who is an avid Chelsea supporter. We have been planning on attending the Chelsea-Sunderland game since we started planning the trip last Summer. She had mentioned to me early on that match tickets would be available for purchase 72 days before the match, but when that time came neither of us could find any information to back that up.
All I could find was information on the official site stating that tickets went on sale today, March 24. I went to the website at 6:55 p.m. Eastern last night to check for General Sale tickets, but they were already listed as Sold Out. I visited the viagogo website, but am not a member so cannot purchase tickets there, and the only other avenues I've found seem either illegitimate (sketchy websites) or astronomically expensive (£300/ticket?!), so I'm left panicking and anxious that I've messed this up.
Can anyone here fill me in on the process for ticket sales for non-members or season ticket holders trying to attend a match? Have I missed any opportunity, or is there some other way to help make my girlfriend's dream of seeing a game at Stamford Bridge come true?
Finally, I know this is a long shot, but if anybody has a connection to anyone who would be able to find two tickets for us to purchase (hopefully not too inflated), please please please let me know.
Thank you all for allowing me to crash in here and ask you for something with my first interaction. I truly appreciate any help you can provide.
