To start with, I'd like to mention that I've always been happy and content with being a Chelsea fan, but this year has its pros like never before [I was a fan before the takeover, but was too young to get all the news(India), so missed all the Jose action the first time around]. I would love to elaborate but would like to keep it short and sweet.
We are on top of the table in Feb for crying out loud. The last few years haven't been kind. Strictly, thank you Jose. We have never lost a match this year, and are on a run. I always remember the Novembers and the Decembers devouring our team, not this time though. I have heard throughout the years that Jose coming back would be great, but didn't expect this. I mean literally Stamford bridge is a fortress.
The haters are hating us like never before. This really is the best thing. I am in college, and am surrounded by lots of Manu fans. I just take the piss out of them week in and week out, and it never gets boring. Somebody posted their stats for the year p9 w3 l5 d1. The start to their year was perfect, 3 straight losses and out of both the cups. For most Chelsea fans, Liverpool seems to be the club they hate, but due to my circumstances I despise manure more than anything. I bet manure to not win anything and not be in the top 4, I really didn't think I would be winning both of them, unless they win the champions league, :-) .
The fact that no big team has beaten us (strictly Everton is not a biggie in financial terms, but footballing terms, maybe) is also a good talking point, we weren't really like that before because all my friends used to remind me of that repeatedly over the years. And we really earned respect for the win against city. Literally the haters just congratulated me with a cold face, because before the match they were all over me trying to make me believe that we are going to get whipped. I believed in us and it really paid off. After the match, I sat in silence soaking the win for a good few minutes before going berserk.
I can't say it's all roses out here though, because we lost our best player, Juan Mata. The article that helped me get over it was written by Graham MacAree, The two matas. It's one of the best articles I have read up-to-date.
The re-signing of Matic has been the very best of news during the transfer window, which was pretty boring otherwise. I mean there was no last day madness from any of the clubs (Looks like they are all listening to Wenger).
Out and out, this was the best year for me, and I am sure many of us are thinking the same. This is my first article here, so forgive me if I was a bit boring or misinforming in any way.
Keep the Blue Flag Flying High.
