I'm not one to put much stock into unsourced transfer rumors, even less so when they're coming from the Daily Mirror (who are fresh off their squad prediction failure). But this one is so meaty, so bonkers, that I just had to share.
Sink your teeth into this one (metaphorically, Luis; metaphorically!):
Jose Mourinho intends to complete the signings of Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw BEFORE the start of the World Cup.
The Chelsea manager insists he wants just two major acquisitions this summer and the club are already believed to be working on deals for Paris Saint-Germain's Uruguay striker Cavani and Southampton starlet Shaw.

And if that's not crazy enough for you just yet, check out the side plot:
But Chelsea will partially fund the deal by off-loading Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba in the summer.

Well that escalated quickly! While it doesn't take Nostradamus to predict the summer departure of Demba Ba, selling Romelu Lukaku would be a tremendous surprise to me. The young Belgian may have hit a bit of a dip in form, but he has seemingly put his loud mouth on notice, and has reiterated his desire to make a career of it with Chelsea.
Meanwhile, on the front end of the rumor, the part about Luke Shaw is hardly surprising - unlike his eventual transfer fee, sure to be much higher than many of us would be entirely comfortable with - but having balked at Edinson Cavani last summer (*sob*), I don't quite understand why we'd go in for him this time around. Unless of course PSG were to do us a favor with a cut-rate deal.
In any case, here's your chance to take your mind off the Manchester City affair and have yourself a merry little transfer market fantasy.
