Man of the Match Petr Cech once again brought his very best vs. Bayern Munich

Alexander Hassenstein

Despite the disappointment of a lost penalty shootout, there were several excellent performances in Chelsea Blue in the slightly less meaningful rematch of the 2012 Champions League Final.  Here are the results of your votes from the community player ratings form in the initial reactions post to Bayern Munich vs. Chelsea.

Another match versus Bayern, another Petr Čech masterclass.  You know our expectations are a bit skewed towards the spectacular when you're left feeling disappointed that he went the wrong way on the first three penalty kicks or that he just failed to get a strong enough hand to the Franck Ribéry's laser-beam of an equalizer.

He did have one hilariously mishit clearance and his distribution, as usual, wasn't exactly anything worthy of song.  Plus, I don't think he'll ever do a swan-dive header like Manuel Neuer did in the one moment he felt like he was René Higuita.  But Petr Čech is ours and Petr Čech is playing some of the best football of his life.  The 9.1 average WAGNH community rating from this match is a new personal high for the man with 200 career clean sheets for Chelsea.

2. EDEN HAZARD - AML 8.7

Few things are more exciting than Eden Hazard in full flight.  Chelsea's second most expensive signing ever had a goal and a secondary assist with just 47 dangerous touches.  Ribéry had just a goal with three times as many.  That's what we call effectiveness and playing to a solid gameplan.

In addition to doing his usual thing with running, dribbling, shooting, and winning fouls, the more time Hazard spends with Mourinho, the more well rounded his game becomes.  He put it another decent defensive shift in this one, making a few effective clearances as well.

3. DAVID LUIZ - DC 8.1

Welcome back, David Luiz!

After a bit of a rough start in his first competitive start for José Mourinho, Sideshow settled in and had himself a pretty good game, despite facing the supremely annoying and annoyingly good Mario Mandžukic.

As expected, along with his defensive contributions, his forays into the attacking third as well as his long passes can be more than instrumental in breaking the opposition down.  The assist he provided for Hazard's goal is just the standard that we know and love from the Brazilian.

And then he did his future captain thing with Romelu Lukaku, which almost deserved a '10' in an of itself.

OTHERS:

SUBS:
Mikel (6.4), Lukaku (5.6), Terry (5.9)
