This Juan Mata stuff is getting silly. All summer long, the two-time Chelsea player of the year has been linked with a move away from the club (he's 'not Jose Mourinho's kind of player', after all), and now the latest talk is that Atletico Madrid are trying to get him on loan. Seriously.
Diego Simeone has admitted that there has been things happening about Juan Mata over the past few days— Garreth Nunn (@garrethnunn) August 25, 2013
It seems that Atleti have made an offer for the player on loan and things are very serious— Garreth Nunn (@garrethnunn) August 25, 2013
For the people asking for my source, it was Diego Simeone who said 'there are talks' and he was 2 metres in front of me— Garreth Nunn (@garrethnunn) August 25, 2013
If true (and the Mail have picked up on the story as well), I move that Chelsea reply by recalling Thibaut Courtois. That'll teach Atleti for making cheeky loan bids. I could understand it if Mata wanted to go from the Blues to a side like Real Madrid or Barcelona, but Atletico? And on a loan? Now we're just getting silly -- or incredibly optimistic. Only a week left of this...
