Good, if not completely expected, news!
"Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with both Willian and his club Anzhi Makhachkala for the transfer of the Brazilian player.
"The transfer is subject to a work permit hearing on Wednesday."
We knew this one was in the works - we heard initial reports back on Thursday of Abramovich himself hijacking Tottenham's deal with Anzhi, and then Mourinho's cheeky hints in Saturday's press conference meant this deal was all but done. Now, pending a work permit, Willian should be our man, adding to the club's ludicrous talent in attacking midfield.
What does this mean for the rest of the transfer window? Well, we know Mourinho wants 22 in his squad, so presumably an attacker is on the way out, so maybe there is substance to those reports of a loan for Victor Moses. Meanwhile, there have been suggestions that this deal also involves a switch to England for Samuel Eto'o, although this is pending on Chelsea's third and final bid for Wayne Rooney.
Intriguing times ahead with just eight days to go in the transfer window, but nevertheless, it's a time for celebration as we add another enormously talented Brazilian to the squad.
