This is what I think our squad will be next season:
Cech, Schwarzer, Blackman
Mikel, Essien - (De Rossi)
Lampard, Van Ginkel, Ramires
De Bruyne, Moses
Lukaku, Torres, Ba, - (Rooney?)
Including De Rossi and Rooney, this is a squad of 27.
First Team + Bench = 18 players
This squad means loaning out: Chalobah, McEachran, Wallace, Omeruo, Piazon, Ake and Bruma if he joins.
This means 9 of the players above will be left out of the matchday squad. Obviously there will be rotation and all will play, especially considering we play about 60 games a season, but I'm struggling to leave players out.
My team would be:
Ramires (De Rossi)
That's 16 players, of which you can only pick 7 - I don't envy Jose.
This is most certainly a good thing, but I can't see us making the signings of DDR and Rooney without others leaving.
Mikel looks the only likely one to leave from the midfield, but getting rid of him for De Rossi is a bad move in my eyes. I think this has a very slim chance of happening now considering Maicon has joined Roma, ruling out a Wallace loan.
Torres or Ba will hopefully go if Rooney comes in, preferably Torres, or we could have 4 strikers.
I am extremely happy that we have a brilliant squad now rather than a brilliant team, meaning we will actually have a half decent bench.
In my eyes no other club's squad gets close to ours in terms of quality in depth.
This season is looking very promising.
