Hello you all! It's my turn to write my own WAGNHSSSSSSSSSSSSS and I really hope you enjoy my point of view.
I'll be sorry If I make any language mistake, I'm brazilian and altought I'm used to talking in english, I'm not very much in writing
This time, I would not only write about who I expect to come and who I expect to leave the squad, but I will comment about my expectatives around these players
I'll try to be more realistic during my post, I'll try to avoid the "Football Manager player" kind of post that is funny ,but most of the times a bit to far from reality.
So, being realistic in our situation is assuming that the team will not make many big changes from the team who played last season - like Mou said, the improvement will come principally in work, not in transfers
Turnbull, Hilario, Ferreira, Malouda and Benayoun are all out of contract and being a little Captain Obvious, they're definitely out. No chance for renewing their contracts.
Petr Cech: Guaranted as our first choice
Courtois: It's a world class goalkeeper and can't be a reserve. I would loan to Atletico Madrid again. Some people suggested a contract clause to make him able to return if Cech come to suffer a serious injury. It's an interesting thing, but I don't think Atletico would accept and I don't know if the rules of the Premier League would make him able to come back anytime of the season to subtitute Cech. And in Champions League, Atletico is qualified, so he will not play for us in the most important competition anyway. So it's kinda hard. The one thing I would try to do is renewing his contract to full lenght again as a part of the loan deal
RESERVE GOALKEEPER: We need to buy an imediate reserve for Petr Cech. The betteroption in market would be Diego Lopéz. He has experience, has a good relation with Jose Mourinho and will probably quit Real. But I dont know if he would accept being a reserve after a great season in Madrid - or if he would change from a Casillas' reserve to a Cech's reserve just because of Mourinho. So, I hope the board look in the market for another option and I hope they could get a better reserve than Turnbull and Hilario was - it doesn't have to be a young keeper, an experienced one, who could lay in the bench for the whole season without problems and substituing Cech ok (at least not making terrible matches like Turn and Hilario did) would be enough
Jamal Blackman: He'll be the third goalkeeper. No need to sign 2 backups, just 1 is ok, because Blackman has promising talents and even being too young can do better than the guys we had last season. But again, is too young to be an imediate replacement for Cech, but a third choice would be okay.
GOALKEEPING OVERVIEW: Cech is our obvious first choice. We need an imediate reserve. Blackman is good enough for a 3rd goalkeeper.
Cezar Azpilicueta (RIGHT BACK): Cezar did a very good season, is young and will improve under Mourinho hands. Aguably a first team regular for the next season.
Branislav Ivanovic (CENTER BACK, AND RIGHT BACK): Iva made a rollercoaster season, with some terrible (Swansea) and great (Benfica) moments. But anyway, Ivanovic is a huge Chelsea legend for me and he has a lot of credit. Plus, he ended the last season in great form playing as a center back. Many people say he isn't playing great in right back, but I still believe he could be a perfect option for a match who Azpilicueta couldn't play or a match that Mou would prefer a more defensive team. A first choice in the center and a immediate reposition for right back.
David Luiz (CENTER BACK and CENTER MIDFIELDER): Luiz is arguably our center back. He can perform greatly in the middle, but in my opinion, it's in the back where he belongs in a "perfect Chelsea lineup". A must-start in both positions.
Gary Cahill (CENTER BACK): Cahill is a solid defender and I trust a lot in him. A rotation player that would not be a starter in a "perfect team", with Ivanovic and David Luiz being improvised constantly, he gets a lot of playing time in the center. He doesn't bother to be in the bench, is a hero of two European Finals and doesn't get intimidated by oponents. A very good squad player.
John Terry (CENTER BACK): At the very beginning of the season, it seems that Terry would be the last choice for the center back positions. But he simply won't. As every season, we will have a lot of injuries and players will have to be improvised, like Luiz and Ivanovic, so Terry will have a lot of playing time. For me, Terry still a great defender that just made a bad season because of suspensions and injuries. With an adequate pre-season, he will be back in great form and even fight with Ivanovic and Luiz for a position in the team. The question is: when will he have the chance to prove it? At the very beginning, starting the season as a first choice, or during the season, when the injuries and suspensions led him into the team? It's up to Mourinho, and about having 4 center backs, a lesson we learned after getting beated 0-3 against Sunderland, with Jeffrey Bruma and Paulo Ferreira playing in the center back: the most center backs we have, the better
Ashley Cole (LEFT BACK): Cole made a very solid season and I believe, at 32, he is still good enough to carry on as our first choice for the whole season. I bet he wouldn't be a problem.
Ryan Bertrand (LEFT BACK, LEFT WING): Bertrand made a good season, principally when Cole got injured and he was requested to play against big teams like United, City and some Euro League games. Bertrand did it well, having no big problems, he still young and it's a perfect option for a situation without Cole. He is even more useful when we remind he can play in the middle for a most defensive wing-position too.
DEFENDERS OVERVIEW: We have pretty much everything we need, we just need Mou's hand to train it to be a great defensive system. 2 players for RB, 4 players for CB and 2 players for LB is pretty enough.
Well, this is just a "Pilot", for the series, if you guys like it, I can make it for the rest of the squad. If I'm just saying obvious things, I'd rather try something else :D
