A bit of international action - both at the senior and at the youth level - to keep you occupied on this sweltering hot Saturday. They're calling for 109° in my area. That's 43° on a more normal scale. Not cool. Literally.
In any case, if you're truly bored, you can catch Switzerland vs. Cyprus on ESPN3 starting right now. But while the Swiss can be fun to watch thanks to all their lovely midfielders, the real action begins at the top of the hour when Day 3 of the EURO U21s get under way with England taking on Norway. England was ... well, England ... as they lost to a wonderful Lorenzo Insigne free kick on Day 1 and will need to grab all three of these points to keep their tournament on track.
The second match of Day 3 will see Italy take on hosts Israel. May these Azzurri be more inspiring than their senior counterparts away in the Czech Republic yesterday.
Lastly, we have a couple charity matches going on. Michael Essien's objectively titled Essien Game of Hope is one of them - one more Ballack and Malouda sighting as well for good measure - but sadly I have no idea when this is happening or if any of us (outside of Africa) will actually be able to watch it somewhere, somehow. The other, much more widely available charity match is Spain vs. Haiti from Miami (4 P.M. EDT; beIN Sport), which will serve as a warmup for Mata, Torres, Azpilicueta, and Co. ahead of the Confederations Cup as well as a fundraiser for disaster relief in Haiti. So that's nice.
