19-year-old right back Todd Kane has consistently impressed over the course of his Chelsea career, and now he's going to get an extended chance to show his stuff in the Championship. He's already familiar with Blackburn Rovers, having made several appearances there towards the tail end of last season, and the Blues have announced he's heading out to Ewood Park on a one-year loan deal.
We can probably expect Kane, who's been with the Blues for more than a decade, to get plenty of starts -- he featured heavily on loan there last year and is thought extremely highly of by Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer. This seems like a perfect storm as far as loan deals go. Kane's going to be facing good competition in a tough league and should get a lot of playing time, vital for any youngster. In terms of level he's still behind the likes of Tomas Kalas (and Wallace, should he go to Serie A), but as Nathaniel Chalobah has showed, you don't need to be in a top-flight league to take a massive step up.
Good luck to Kane next season -- we'll all be watching.
