The 24 year old 6ft 1inch holding midfielder has well and truly proved himself at Russian League level. He had a very good season for both club and country. Did I mention he plays for the ever improving BELGIAN national team (alongside Courtois, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Hazard). He can play a holding midfield role with the ability to start counter attacks, use his physicality to shrug off attackers, and can break up plays with ease. He is a pain to mark and often frees up space when the opposition force two defenders to mark the man mountain. Despite Mikel proving to be a useful asset, an afro-combo of David Luiz and Witsel with Mikel being rotated in and played in cup games would give us some depth in CDM (With Romeu being Romeu - Essien on the decline - Lampard losing fitness and prefering a CAM position).
Now I know he used to play for Arsenal *boo-rivals* but nobody can deny his class. He tore the premier league apart with his brilliant technique and work ethic. I initially thought he would reject us but after considering the combination of an awful season at Barcelona and the fact that Man Utd links are for some reason seen as reasonable, I thought why not! He could provide some real competition for them 3 CAM slots.. I like Moses... He pops up and scores some crucial goals... but then again, so did Kalou. Did he really deserve a spot in our side? Probably not. Marin is also seen as competition... Injury prone... Out of form... Just two phrases that sum up Marin's debut season in England. We need somebody reliable. Frank (who is a club legend) is struggling to keep up with the workload. When he plays a lot of games, he gets a little lazy. I don't blame him but we need somebody who if needs be could be played every game. Any time a member of MAZACAR got injured or suspended, we did not play with half as much skill as we usually do. Plus Fabregas provides a template for which Oscar can grow into.. Whilst Mata is well Mata (enough said) and Hazard is going down an incredible path, Oscar (whom has shown moments of brilliance) does not always perform for club as he can for country. Fabregas could both assist Oscar's development and give him some much needed competition. Also, united want him and pinching one of their buys would be nice. Let's get started on operation annoy David Moyes.
Whilst I don't claim to be an expert on him, I know that he is well built and a great tackler. He may not read the game terrifically but he can play CB/LB/RB/CDM very well. He supposedly rejected Chelsea recently as we were not willing to give him much game time. I actually think that after starting in the champions league last season. Okore could start in 15-25 games a season. We need to start lowering our reliance on Cahill and Ivanovic. Instead, think about the future. With Jose likely to either sell Luiz or play him as a CDM, CB looks weak. Ivanovic is amazing on his day but reckless at times. Cahill is good-not great. He is not the same player I saw in the champions league victory. Okore is cheap, big and can boss around the defense. With him in RCB, Cesar can push up and contribute to attacks.
