Any amount of money in the today's football transfer market seems just short, when one sets out to form his dream team. I had finalized a shopping combination 5 times and every time I felt that I could buy someone else. But since the deadline is making me crazy and I am hell sleepy, I'm just gonna present the current list and name the players who could not make the cut.
But before that, I'd just like to mention my understanding of transfer targets, their price and the missing aspects of the current team based on which I have created the wish list.
Firstly, key players from direct rivals would come for silly money only UNLESS they have a year left on their contract or they really don't feel like wearing the same colour anymore, or maybe fancy anelka's life of globetrotting.
Secondly, from my knowledge, I think Jose Mourinho likes to build the team from defense-->attack. But Real Madrid really spoilt him, didn't it? I think Madrid would love di matteo as their coach. Bring on the 4-4, 5-3 scorelines!! Duh.. Back to what I was saying.. Mourinho prefers 4-3-3.. Maybe when he gets old he will try a 4-4-2 again in the portugal national team, but THIS IS CHELSEA!! attacking football please.. Don't want the rosenberg draws again do you JOSE? Soon, Winter will be coming!! So create a good defense, add a protective layer of defensive players and then attack, coz Vinnie Jones has left a mark in this league. It is dangerous.
Now shut up! Okay. Thirdly, I think the team should have a perfect blend of youth and world class proven players. So we should be in the middle of the spectrum whose range is defined by Real madrid( all stars) and Arsenal( boys boys boys). We also cannot have so many future-superstars.
Now lets see..
At present, we are blessed with the presence of David luiz accompanied by the Bionic man 'Jonathan gladiator Terry', Gary tower Cahill and the Bear.. They are flanked by the ineffective but highly committed Azpi, and the one who never gets tired- Ashley Cole.. He'l turn 33 this year!! WTF?? Also, the pride of Roman-Era Chelsea youth academy, Ryan blue eyed
gosling Bertrand. Do we need anyone? Obviously.. Coz, Terry is getting no younger, has lost quite some of his pace, Cahill is inconsistent at the highest level. Ivanovic has been used at RB for a good portion of his chelsea career, so he is good at the back only with selective co-Centrehalves nowadays.. We need someone to guard the future!! And that person is Andrea Ranocchia..
As I stated in my premise, either of the CBs from BvB will just be too costly. And I do not think that they would go so crazy after losing a final that they might lose goetze, lewandowski and one of their CBs in the same season to direct rivals. Ranocchia is a neat tall defender who has had a good season for Inter Milan. They secured his services just a while back and his contract runs till 2015. He is a strong tackler of the ball and quick for his height.
Check his play out here.
As we can so happily strangle Inter by its neck, because it lost out on all european competitions, they would equally happily sell him for a non-inflated price. Add to that 'Inter is my second house' part of Jose's life. (Thank the lords he is back)!! We see David Luiz for a long term at CB and to assist him we need a robust defender who is also good in the aerial battles. So we can get this guy. He is young and awesome. I guess we 20 mill would suffice. And it's been a long time since we've had an italian guy. Rest of the defense looks fine as I think Ashley Cole and Ryan are capable together to pull off a season more before we think about luke shaw. If not, we always have january.
These are the guys who will defend Petr Cech, who by the way has no back up. So we need some people to accompany him in the goal keeper training sessions. Robert Green seems suitable. He has come of age, has represented england on the big stage, but is now wandering in the shadows of Cesar the great at QPR.To bring him back to life,we'd buy him for around 2 m GBP.
MIDFIELD CRISIS!! WHO IS GONNA PIVOT??
Now this section is going to raise a lot of eyebrows.
First, I would like to sell Mr. Ramires. Blasphemy? I like him a lot. Really.. But his skills do not match his style of play. He is too indisciplined to be a sole CDM, and too inconsistent when deployed to the right of midfield or on wings. Above that he is a clumsy tackler.Still,he is so good that I expect 25 m for him. But, if you think we will lose the most versatile player from our team, I've got Toni Kroos for you!
Call me crazy, but I think he is perfect for central midfield in the attacking part of the pivot. Sometimes, he would come up with some insane through balls or long balls. He even has a knack for scoring from the edge of the box, long rangers. Good at set pieces too. I love him because of his commitment. Yes, I know he
is was a bit slow, and we are losing exactly what we gained from ramires, but now, he is the one who will offer the pressing higher up the field the most. He has proved it this season. He possesses the vision of a CM, amazing technique and quite young. He has got the ability to get the ball out from crowded midfields. Why would Bayern sell him? Because they are flooded with midfielders. Goetze, Kroos, Mueller and schweinsteiger in central midfield with shaqiri, robben and ribery on flanks. Too many good midfielders. Obviously we'd have to loosen our pockets a bit. But spending 30 m on modric, I'd rather have Kroos who is just 23 and has worked much on his shortcomings last season, proving that he would work fine in a 4-3-3. His contract runs till 2015. So 35 million would be a good deal. Here is some preview.
I'd also sell Mr Marko Marin accounting for an addition of 5 m to my transfer kitty.
Add to the list Mr John Obi Mikel for another 18m pounds. No one has divided opinion, more than him, in the chelsea fan club. He has served the club well, is a very disciplined player, and does his part perfectly fine on the defensive front. It is just the expectation from him going forward that has never really given much respite.
Then we ought to have the WAGNH favourite.. Mr Van Ginkel.. We keep loaning them players and Vitesse can't sell him to us?! Rude club.. Okay then we will pay for him. But first, let us see what he offers. He is a box to box midfielder who recently outranked the supposed replacement for goetze- christian eriksen. He has come up through the ranks of Vitesse, with which the blues have a very strong relation. Negotiations might thus not have much friction, yet, Vitesse would want to cash on a highly rated youngster. This lad is for the future you peoples. So lets pay 15 m GBP for him.
Rest, we have daddy's son Essien and a variable quantity called Romeu.I'd keep Essien because he does exactly what our current manager demands, and has found his fitness in the dark shadows of the political Madrid. He is back afresh and can play in quite many positions, providing a reliable backup.
Want more midfielders?? You greedy lot.. Take one more. So for the makalele position I'd want to buy Mr Sami Khedira. Never really shy of tackling, composed on the ball and better than mikel in aerial duels, he is more complete as a CDM than most. This buy is going to be a tricky one as Madrid is not particularly a selling club. But maybe the Jose factor can work in our favor and we can get him for 25m-30m. His contract also runs till 2015.. Coincidence??!!
By the way did I tell you I see Oscar's future in a deeper role? No? Yes I believe his skills are more suited to work more on the ball and distribute it with all the good heart to the Matas and Hazards. He has tendency to run up and down to receive the ball in tight spaces, make simple passes and move forward, and is surprisingly strong against tackles for a person of his dimensions.
Ill keep this part simple!!
In- Edinson Cavani, Son Heung Min
Out- Fernando Torres
Loan out- Kraken.Where you ask- Swansea. 2 reasons for that
1)I do not want to see the danish legend leave for lack of funds.
2) They do not have a striker. False nine is all they have. Michu and lukaku would be a lethal pair.
Edinson Cavani is a beast of a striker. Yes he is 27 and closest to his peak- age.. So? Who said we do not want a striker at his peak for the next two years?? He comes from the heart ripping Italian league, so we don't have to worry about him against the physicality of EPL. He is tall and quick and will provide a good target man for the little hobbits mata and hazard. He will cost us 50 m GBP in this cruel real world.
Son Heung Min is a wonderful investment. Chelsea wants to build its brand in Asia. Why not create a strong market in one of the most advanced nations - South Korea. Samsung is already a link and it is high time the club signs an asian player to make its mark in asia. In Asia, Liverpool have a loyal fanbase, even if they would get relegated; UTD has been opening up sports bars, Arsenal is working with academies, so where are the blues?
Forget the branding. This lad is another awesome versatile player. He can play on the flanks or as a support striker. He is just 20 and has already notched up more than 30 appearances for Hamburger SV and scored close to 12 goals. He is swift and pleasing to the eye with his movement. If there is any asian left after kagawa to be bought, it is him.
Torres has to be sold. It is time we start the Jose era afresh, without any baggages that drag us down. He still holds a lot of value for any club ready to pay his wages, in terms of the shirt sales or brand value. I'd expect 18 m GBP for him.
Lukaku has to be given his chance at chelsea. He shall have to compete against cavani which is unfair but on the other end, he can learn a great deal, too, from him.But that is for a year after this one. He has to show his consistency for another year at a competitive club which also plays in europe. This experience will give him the belief and he will be perfectly ready for chelsea after he has proven all his worth.
Young Generation/ Loans:
Kevin De Bryune: This lad has played regularly in one of the best leagues for a good team. There is no doubt that he has to be given a shot with the chelsea first team. A mentor like Jose can probably bring out the best in him. I also believe he is one of the best crossers in the current chelsea team. This has been missing from our play since long, and his skills can be put to best use now with a target man like cavani.
Josh Mceachran- I would want him to go to Swansea. YEA! Josh is an amazing prospect and I love the way the Dane makes swansea play. The control stays in the centre of the midfield. If he can make his cut in that team, I would be more than sure to give him a chance next year with Chelsea first team. He can get a taste of european cups too.
Chalobah- As much as I would want him to stay at chelsea, he needs to play regularly. I see him as a first team regular in a couple of years itself. But he needs to play in pressure situations week in week out. The potential is there, but he just needs consistency and a bit more polishing.
Others loaned out : Piazon(CL playing club), Wallace, Thorgan(championship), Omeruo, Kalas, Thibaut Courtois(to athletico madrid) and PvA
Lazar Markovic: I wished to have saved some money for this upcoming superstar. Lethal with his pace, I would readily sign him before sending him out on loan. The cost would be 8m. But the budget does not allow me. So see you in january.
To be sold:
Bruma- 3 m. He is never going to make it to the Chelsea ranks. Cash in on him.
Kakuta- Same reason as Bruma. 3 m GBP.
Here is the consolidation:
In: Ranocchia , Khedira, Kroos, Cavani, Son Heung Min, Robert green,Van ginkel. That will cost --> 20+25+35+50+20+2+15 = 167M
OUT: Mikel, Ramires, Torres, Marko Marin, Bruma and Kakuta --> 18+22+16+5+3+3 = 167 M
