WAGNH Shopping Spree (May 27th)
First time poster
A realistic shopping spree under 50 million...via Transfermarkt prices in the Queen's money (Americans call it that, do the English?)
Transfers Out: Ryan Bertrand (4.4) Henrique Hilario (.45) Jeffrey Bruma (2.6), Gael Kakuta (3.5) Milan Lalkovic (??)
The players I wish we’d have signed but fell through : Fellaini & Isco (maybe next year right?)
Total expenditure ~45.75 million pounds
Loans: Courtois (Atletico), Lukaku (Swansea), McEachran (Watford/BPL), Piazon (Malaga), Chalobah(Watford/BPL), Ake (Vitesse), Romeu (Somewhere in Spain/only short term) Marin (Germany/Russia) Shaw (Southampton) Walker/Delac (???), Wallace (Vitesse), Hutchinson (England), Todd Kane (Blackburn), Omeruo (England) Davila (???), Thorgan Hazard (Anderlecht), Bamford (Championship) * KDB (Dortmund)
*Totally on the fence about KDB’s future. If he goes to Dortmund on loan or for permanent I do not know. My gut tells me on loan*
Youth players to be utilized this season: Loftus-Cheek and Christensen. Possibly Feruz.
Possible formations: 4-2-3-1.... 4-1-3-2 ....4-4-2
GK: Cech, Begovic, Blackman,
LB: Cole, PvA
CB: Terry, Luiz, Ivo, Cahill, Varane
RB: Azpi, Ivo, Essien
DM: Lampard, Mikel, Ramires, Luiz, Essien
AM: Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Moses, Schürrle
ST: Torres, Ba, Bony
Keepers: With Turnbull and Hilario gone I think it is time for a major change in the goalkeeping department. I think Begovic is as good as ours. A man of his quality would probably rather see some bench time and win some trophies than play for a struggling BPL side who seems about ready to replace him. However I could see Diego Lopez also play this role very well.Throw Blackman in there as a third option.
LB: Cole is now on his 1 year extension and he will obviously get the nod. I think Bertrand’s time has come. If its between him and PvA I’ll opt for the latter. Bertrand’s experience in the mid, while useful, is not needed with new signings. Luke Shaw should be bought and loaned back to Southampton. He could and should be our LB of the future and should compete with PvA for starts in the coming years.
CB: Nothing changes much here except the introduction of Varane. He will serve as Terry’s replacement as Terry will continue to struggle for fitness this coming season. Of all the transfer rumors about Madrid players coming, this is the only viable and sensible one.
RB: Plenty of depth here with Dave, Ivo, and the return of the Bison
DM: If Mou chooses to implement the 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-3-2 I feel that he will continue to utilize the players that played in this pivot this past year. Lamps, Mikel, Ramires were the obvious choices but now we also have Essien back to fill the void during times of injury and fatigue. Luiz too can provide ample and capable coverage in this position.
AM: Mazacar is alive and well and their sophmore year will be anything but a slump. This is the year they will continuously torment defenses and will be one of, if not thee most feared trio in England. For cover we’re still in the capable hands of Moses who can operate on the wings and Ramires/Lampard could also play in the CAM role. Marko Marin the ghost will go on loan and to replace him we have Andre Schürrle who will, like Moses, play along the wings but could also play behind the striker in our midfield if need be. His versatility is something to be admired. This is a move I really like as his pace and finishing, especially if used as a super sub, will simply eat defenses alive. I expect he will get some serious minutes in the future and be great cover for injuries.
ST: Torres won’t leave just yet. There have been so many rumors saying he will go to Atletico in a deal for Falcao but that won’t happen. Falcao will go to big money Monaco, Cavani to Citeh and Lewandowski to Bayern. It pains me to say this as a Torres "Dissenter" however he had a decent season this past season and I think he will put more in the back of the net this year. He says his best goal has yet to be scored. This will be the year of the Torres "Wunder Tor." Ba also stays. I can’t believe people think he will go so soon. In his first full year in blue Ba will also do his part admirably in helping us put away games with his positioning and finishing however I think he will play second fiddle to our marquee ST signing. Yes call me crazy but we will pick up yet another huge finisher from the Ivory Coast, Wilfried Bony, the leading scorer of the Eredivisie from Vitesse. With everything we’ve done for Vitesse these negotiations should be very smooth. Bony is a player I really like and I think he is the type of striker we need. He and Lukaku will become a ferocious tandem in the coming years. Schurrle could also play up top if needed
On the formation: I don't see us making a drastic change in formation right away but in the latter stages of the season or if the occasion arises I think we could see more systems that use two strikers. I know that takes away from our amazing midfield but to get the most out of everyone (Looking at you mostly though Torres) a two striker system may be the way Mou might want to go eventually.
Courtois: Mou won’t let him waste away on the bench and he doesn’t deserve to oust Cech just yet. Even Courtois knows Cech will be around for another 2 seasons. Barring major injury, I assume Courtois will either stay at Atletico or go to a BPL team. NOT LES ARSES!
Lukaku: Swansea is his only likely destination. European football and a beautiful style of passing/attacking football will help Lukaku balance out his game before returning to us for good next year.
McEachran/Chalobah: These two could fit in wonderfully at Watford under Zola or any mid-low table BPL team.
Piazon: Everyone seems to think he will continue on at Malaga and I have to agree. Good team and will see more minutes if there is a wholesale of their squad inb4 financial mumbo jumbo
Ake/Wallace: Vitesse. Any questions?
Romeu: I love him and I think with continued starts he could be quite a force and leader in the pivot however his injury means he will spend time in Spain on loan for a short time to recover and return to us in fine condition.
Marin: The ghost will find time at some club in Germany or Russia and return to us to be sold. To which the fans will have many questions about why we bought him, why he didnt start or play and why he didnt produce that much when he was out there.
Shaw: Our future star fullback will go immediately back to Southampton and then from there either a more aggressive loan or fight for time in the first team.
Todd Kane: Simple to send him back to Blackburn and he will probably be sold to them eventually.
Hutch: Still struggling with injuries he will again go out on loan somewhere in England and like Kane maybe be sold to them sometime in the future.
Omeruo: Quite a young talent and we should push for an England loan where he is an automatic first team player.
Hazard: Marvelous for Waregum and he has most certainly earned himself a place at another big Belgian club. Anderlecht seem the likeliest of destination for Thazard.
Bamford: He should fit in nicely with a Championship team. What his future holds I haven’t the slightest. I feel he will fall short unfortunately at Chelsea.
I think that covers all the bases.
