Earlier today very reliable Swiss Ramble published (via twitter feed @SwissRamble) finance information regarding football clubs in French Ligue 1 (wages, turnover, commercial incomes, etc). Among those tweets, there was one particulary interesting:
First thing on my mind was Eden Hazard's reported price tag 32 (BBC sources) or even 35 (Telegraph sources) million pounds. As his transfer was finalized on 4th June of 2012, it's included in 2011/12 financial summaries and therefore in 54 million euros mentioned in tweet above.
In the same period Moussa Sow was sold to Fenerbachce and Gervinho to Arsenal. Sow's reported price is from 10 to 13 million euros (we will go with €12m reported by lequipe.fr). Price of Gervinho is very similar to Sow and lequipe.fr states 12 million euro. I dig little deeper and have found out that also Emerson transfer to Benfica should be include in 2011/12 financial books (it's 2 million euro as far as I was able to find) and Ludovic Obraniak to Bordeaux (lequipe.fr reports 1 million euro).
Using simple math, we end up with remaining 27 million euro, what should be real Eden Hazard price tag. Actually, it's not that simple and we have to exclude remaining amortized costs of departed players. I will do it just give or take, because it's a few millions. Eden Hazard came form Lille U19, Moussa Sow on free transfer, Obraniak amortized cost was almost zero, same can be said about Emerson, only Gervinho joined Lille for 6 million pounds on 3-year deal in summer 2009 (that give us 2 million euro needed to be excluded).
We can easily round off the price to 30 million euro (25 million pounds). That's not that much, huh? If the same can be said about his wages and agent fee, that's cracking transfer.
