Chelsea haven't had most of luck when it comes to purchasing strikers. Whether it may be the fact that they were broken before they came, just not Chelsea caliber, or just as an Eto'o. The latter not being so bad but, every prominent team must have a consistent goalscorer yes? The Barce's have Messi, the Madrid's have Ronaldo, the Man City's have Aguero, the Liverpools have Suarez....Who would you say is Chelsea's most consistent scorer this season? I'll wait.....
This comes to my main point, there is a striker out there that can be a consistent goal scorer, and be the Rooney-esque type of player Mourinho wants. A dribbler, with the ability to create chances on their own and able to work in tight spaces. No it's not Aguero, not Suarez, but it's our old transfer mill friend Alexandro Pato.
I mean why not? Pato doesn't seem to age, he's only 24 and from what we all are well aware is that Pato is a pretty good dribbler, he has lightning pace, he has the ability to finish, and he can work in tight spaces.
One might argue that he has lost his potency and he's not the promising striker he was years ago. But at Cruizero he's finding a decent run of form. And under the right guidance of Jose, he could find his spark again.
One might also argue that he is extremely injury prone...
Remember Torres, how he was injury prone too? I'm sure under our improved medical staff; Pato would be alright.
Pato isn't a bad choice, and I'm sure he would come fairly cheap. He's not cup tied and he's still young. And he can fill that "we want Rooney" void too.
What say you?
