Ashley Cole set to earn 100th England cap

The Chelsea man was named to the England squad to face Brazil and will reach the milestone if he plays

Ashley Cole has been a regular in the England national team for what seems like an eternity. It's no coincidence that it seems like it's been forever, as Cole is set to reach a milestone if he plays against Brazil at Wembley next week. Cole was named in Roy Hodgson's 24-man squad that will face Brazil, and any time on the pitch will mark career cap number 100.

Hodgson was all praise for Cole's accomplishment, offering up a Ned Flanders like response for the newly extended Chelsea man:

"Reaching 100 matches is an incredible milestone. He deserves an enormous pat on the back."

With Hodgson being aware of the upcoming milestone, there would seem to be virtually no chance that a healthy Cole doesn't get named to the starting lineup in order to reach that milestone. Congratulations in advance to Ashley, as their seems to be little chance he doesn't reach his milestone achievement next week.

Two other Chelsea players were named to the England squad to face Brazil, both Frank Lampard and Gary Cahill will be taking their usual places on the National team. If Lampard gets onto the pitch, it will be cap number 94 as he also looks to reach the century mark.
