The Chelsea Striker Curse.

Andriy Mykolayovych Shevchenko, Fernando José Torres Sanz,Claudio Pizzaro not many of us have many fond memories of them in Chelsea's blue shirt.Embodiments of the Chelsea striker curse.

Presently Fernando Torres is our number 1striker or should I say number 9.I have a lot of affection for Torres and I would love to see him succeed at Chelsea but lets face it the chances for that happening at are very slim to say the least.I cannot count how many times I have heard 'Fernando Torres is back' but it has been found not to be the case.Torres started well this season scoring twice in four games, then he hit a barren patch until yesterday's where although he scored he should have had one or two more.

In the QPR, Juventus and Stoke game,we all saw the misfiring Fernando Torres we have come to get used to see for almost two years.I think its time to accept that 50 million quid was not that wisely invested and in order to move on from arguably the worst Chelsea signing in history,is to cash-in at the end of the season. We all have the hope that Torres will regain that Liverpool form that saw him rise to be the most feared striker in Europe, but to be frank deep-down most of us if not all know that this will never happen at Chelsea.I know that he will fetch a fraction of the 50 million pounds we paid for him but its better than nothing.

That said,in my opinion I would like Chelsea invest in a young talented striker as per the present transfer policy. That man to me is not Radamel Falcao, although I will certainly not complain if we do sign him I would not want us to.Why?First the price we will eventually pay for him in the transfer fees and the wages is too steep for my liking, especially in these times of FFP. Second the risk of signing a striker at his peak is not the best as we have seen at Chelsea. The striker in question has grown accustomed to the system around him,a system which has made him as big as he could ever be, moving to a new club with a different system and philosophy isn't such a good idea, the rigors of adapting maybe too much to handle, especially in the English Premier League where the media put big money strikers under the spotlight so much combine that with the big price tag and you got a hell lot of pressure to perform. In the end if the striker doesnt bring in results immediately we maybe left with another flop. Therefore Falcao/Cavani or any of that sort of stiker is a no no for me.

This is where Leandro Damiao (if I had to pick who to replace Torres) comes in.This is a young guy, whose talent cannot be questioned.I have seen enough of him to believe he will be a success.Look at Drogba we signed him just at the right time.Mourinho was building a physical team who could bully opposition teams and force a win,a team with great wingers and a great three man midfield who could pick out a target man easily and the guy on the focal point was our Didier who quite frankly was the best man for the job.My point is that we were building a new philosophy when Didier came in,he grew into the system and in the end of his career at Chelsea he is regarded as one of the best strikers to ever play in Europe.

Leandro or any other young talented striker won't come in and start banging 30+ goals per season, but that is not a problem because we have players who can bear the goal scoring burden in Hazard,Lamps,Mata,Ramires and even 1 or 2 goals our centre halfs score from time to time.By the time the striker in question fully adapts to the system,it will just be pure bliss, reminiscent of Drogba at his peak.

This is my first fan post and I know its far from perfect so be easy on me guys.
