Could A McEachran Loan Help Secure The Victor Moses Transfer?

Apparently there's some more movement on a possible Victor Moses deal. I haven't heard many of the specifics myself, but SB Nation's Wigan Athletic blog, Pie Eaters Footie, is on top of things, claiming that Chelsea are now prepared to pay more than 9M for the winger plus allow Wigan to take Josh McEachran on a season-long loan. I'm not sure how reliable the reports are, but it's really rather interesting news, if true.

Although we're mostly focused on bringing in new talent, some of the most important transactions of the summer will be to do with the youth players. Although most do need loans, Chelsea will have to be very careful about where they send them out - you could argue that the success of Tomas Kalas and Thibaut Courtois last season was as much about finding a good environment for them as it was their talent, and we've seen enough failed loan spells to know that they can go wrong.

I think Wigan would probably be a very good place for McEachran to go - if he goes to Wigan early, integrating himself into the team during preseason as a dedicated replacement for Mohamed Diame, he should see plenty of playing time. Roberto Martinez has already helped develop a very good English midfielder in Manchester United's Tom Cleverley, so I'd be curious and optimistic about how he might use Josh for the 2012/13 season.

As for Moses at £9.5M, it does seem like a bit of an overpay, but it's surely better than paying through the nose for Hulk, so long as the remaining transfer funds are allocated somewhere else. I'd be pretty pleased if this went through.
