London 2012 Special Open Thread

Welcome to the Olympics Open Thread, the place for WAGNHers to come and discuss the Olympics without using up the regular OT space.

There is, as in the regular OT, a 1000-comment limit in place. Also, as usual, politics, religion or any of the big flamewar-starters are off limits. More off-limits topics are anything too racy, or violent.

This is the place to discuss your favourite events, amazing finishes, and controversial results. I'll keep this up, bump it, and replace it as necessary during the Olympics. Have fun watching and commenting on the Games!
Example/Filler: Did anyone see the crazy women's epee fencing yesterday, when the German lady fencer defeated her Korean competitor in the final second of extra time, which had been added back after the clock was allowed to run down. There was a huge controversy and the Korean fender had to sit on the piste for over an hour, then lost her bronze medal match.

Yay! 150+ words. Let the OT begin!!!
