its a fact the we need a solid backup striker just incase torres is in bad form/gets injured or simply because we r going to be in 8 competitions this year and we need all the depth we can have. while i see us being linked with very good players (Hulk, Cavani, Flaco) i find two problems with these signings. 1) they will cost a fortune 2) they r big names and will not be too happy by not playing every game.
While i do believe that luakau (not sure if the spelling is correct) will go on loan somewhere which i encourage for him to develop his skills and get much needed time. that will leave us with 2 strikers sturridge and torres both recently not the most consistent of players.
That is the reason i think we should be looking into either purchasing Demba Ba, or Adebayor. Ba has a clause that makes him available for 7 million. While i read that Man city & Spurs agreed on 5-6 million for Adebayor. While Victor Moses is also around that range, i simply dont think he is good enough for chelsea currently.
I think Adebayor would be a great back up striker, as he is kinda used to being a backup ever since he played for city. He will add the much needed strength, Aerial threat. be able to hold up the ball and bully defenders like our beloved hero who departed this summer. Ofcourse not as well as Drogba but enough to help us this year. I also like the fact that he is proven in the premier league with 3 different clubs (Man city, Arsenal & Spurs). and he is not young, so he wont stop luakau's chances of competing for first team chances when he is back and hopefully alot better from his loan.
I just think we really dont have to spend a fortune on a backup as we all know torres will be the starter. and hopefully torres will lead us to glory this year and show us his true worth with a team more suited to his playing style.
Personally i would prefer to get Adebayor out of those two. How bout you guys?
