Jack is in New York for the festivities. I'm in Los Angeles battling a cold. Join me then, for what promises to be a spectacle of sorts.
Preseason just got that much more interesting. Chelsea have left the comforts of the northwest to visit Gotham for a date with Carlo Ancelotti and his selection of weapons. In our last foray, a handful of players shone, while others looked relatively poor. With stiffer competition on offer, it will be interesting to see just how things develop. I'll have my eye on Lukaku to see how he fares against sturdier defenders, on Marko to see if he's willing to use that left foot instead of cutting inside on the right, and on Eden to see whether that sublime touch of his stands up against the might of Paris' finest.
Cech; Hutchinson, Cahill, David Luiz, Ferreira; Lampard, Mikel Obi; De Bruyne, Hazard, Kakuta, Lukaku.
