We love Branislav Ivanovic here. I don't think there's any doubt about that. With that in mind, many of us were a bit upset when Bran-bear was being linked to Barcelona and Real Madrid earlier in the summer. Yesterday, Bran had some comments to the media which would seem to indicate that he's pretty happy at Chelsea. In doing so, he answered a question about Luka Modric. Here's what he had to say:
Chelsea need a player like him. He is a really great player and wouldn't need long to adapt to a new club. He has been playing in England for a while now, he knows the Premier League, he has the right mentality and knows how to play on the level required at Chelsea. I'm sure that he needs something new in his career. He needs to move to a bigger club. I believe at Chelsea he would become an even better player. I urge him to come to Chelsea - he won't regret it.
I have a hard time finding anything inaccurate about what he said, but at the same time "no comment" would have been a better answer in my eyes. I really had issues with the way the Barcelona primadonas were blatantly tapping up Cesc Fabregas last season, and watching one of our own do it doesn't make me any happier.
We all know that Luka would be more than willing to move. We all know he'd accept Chelsea as his new club. There's just no reason to try to persuade him anymore, as he's clearly already willing to join. At this point the players just need to shut their collective mouths and let Levy and Emenalo deal with the situation. Urging the player to make a move publicly can only hurt the situation, and frankly I don't want any of our players to act as classless as Barcelona's dd throughout the entire Fabregas ordeal. You're probably correct Bran, but please shut up.
