IndianBlue's FM12 CFC  Story

Hello everyone at WAGNH.Judging by the response to the Chronicles of Charsenal, I thought maybe people would be interested in a Chelsea FC FM story.I've just started my 4th season managing Chelsea and plan to write monthly (game time) articles about my exploits as Chelsea's Head Coach. Before which I shall just summarise my first 3 seasons managing Chelsea.

In the first season, I tried to get hang of all the new features of FM12, tweaking various aspects of tactics and schedules to find the right combination that would work for me.A quite transfer window with Douglas Costa (22m) and Nathan Dyer (7m), Sime Vrsaljiko (4m). I ended up finishing 3rd and winning the Carling Cup, losing to Bayern in the semis of the Champions League. My 2nd season didn't start off great, finding myself in 8th after 15 matches. On the verge of being sacked, I decided to abandon my 'project' of blending the youth players into my team and went on a spending spree, buying Gourcuff for 25m, Cavani for 50m and De jong for 4m, among others. I switched to 4-2-2-2 formation, with one winger either on the right or left, leaving Torres and Sturridge up front. However, I would always find myself vunerable on the break.Losing to teams such as Stoke,Blackburn (then managed by AVB) and Wolves.I'd then go on lose 2-6 on aggregate to Real Madrid.I ended up finishing 4th, the highlight of my season being the 3-0 win over Fulham in the FA Cup final.

So obviously the 3rd season starts off with my job being very insecure, so I decide to spend big again, Lavezzi for 35m, and a whole bunch of hot prospects.I also sell Meireles to Villa for 17m, Kalou to Liverpool for 24m. Malouda to Wigan for 4m. I start off with a sequence of WDDWDLD. I switch to a more controlled tactic, with defenders deep. I find myself on a 8 match winning streak, to face Arsenal, who were undefeated in 23games, I drew 2-2.I'd meet arsenal in the quarters of the Champions League to win 1-0 at the Bridge but lose 3-1 at the Emirates. With 1 game to go Arsenal are 3 points ahead, with a trip to Anfield in their last game.I have a game in hand, facing Bolton and Liverpool.Sturridge and Torres have been in brilliant goal scoring form and Chelsea had scored in all of their last 47games, only to draw 0-0 to Bolton ( now managed by AVB).To my delight Arsenal lost their ultimate game to Liverpool 2-0. Leaving me 2 points behind first place with a trip to Anfield. Before which was my consecutive FA Cup final, this time with Spurs. I won 3-0 again to lift the FA Cup, again.

Right then, title decider. Chelsea - Liverpool at Anfield.Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Torres scored twice in the first 15mins and then missed at penalty just before halftime.Just as any sensible, FM Head Coach would do, I changed my tactics to contain and counter, with time wasting set to often. Chelsea managed to hold on to the 2 goal lead and lift my first Premier League title. What better way to end the season than with a double? Wait! It gets better, Sir Alex Ferguson retired, along with Wenger and Redknapp.Daglish and Mancini were sacked. So the season ends with my major competitors all managerless.

Preseason 2014-15 in my next article.
