Chelsea FC Loan Roundup: 3/5/12

I won't play any of you!!!

It's that time of the week again, we've been through another weekend of action on the pitch so it's time to report on how the Chelsea youngsters on loan did. Graham is currently making his way to Den Hague, so it's fitting that we've got a debut to tell you about from that club this week. Maybe Graham will even come back with an Omeruo kit from his travels...(hint hint).

  • Kenneth Omeruo - As mentioned above, Omeruo finally got his paperwork sorted and made his debut over the weekend. He was immediately inserted into the starting lineup and responded with an absolutely fantastic debut. Den Haag drew 0-0, but the impressive play of Omerou is a large reason they even gained a point from the contest. If Saturday was any indication, Michael Emenalo has struck gold again. I think it's fair to say he's pretty firmly established himself as a starter with that performance.
  • Tomas Kalas - Vitesse managed a 2-0 victory over the weekend and Kalas was his usual solid self. Despite picking up a yellow card only minutes in to the contest, Kalas managed to have a very impactful game from the center of the defense. All in all, job well done.
  • Patrick van Aanholt - PvA has been a bit up and down recently, but this week was certainly an up. He was a key in the Vitesse attack all game, providing overlapping width on the left that allowed Vitesse to overload the box regularly. He also did an excellent job in tracking back all contest, not allowing his forward runs to expose Kalas at the back. Hopefully this means we'll be seeing him start again this weekend.
  • Ulises Davila - Davila was not involved in the weekend contest.
  • Milan Lalkovic - Lalkovic is approaching his return, but he's still out for the time being.
  • Gael Kakuta - Kakuta has been one of our most impressive performers recently, and this weekend he continued his generally fine play. He was a bit quiet while stationed on the left wing for the first half, but Dijon were generally sitting back and defending league leaders Montpelier. He switched to the right wing in the second, and was in the right place to slot home a rebound for the opener. All in all it was a solid 90 minutes for the young Frenchman who appears to have finally found himself a regular starting job on a loan spell. Here are the highlights from that one.
  • Kevin De Bruyne - Like Kakuta, De Bruyne has also been in fine form recently. De Bruyne was solid in his side's 3-2 defeat, notching an assist and forcing the oppositions keeper into several excellent saves. Here's a whole bunch of highlights from that one...

    • Jeffrey Bruma - Bruma once again had the weekend off as he recovers from injury, Slobodan Rajkovic again started in his place. With the performance Rajkovic gave it may well be a very long time before we see the big Serb play again.
    • Thibaut Courtois - Courtois was his usual excellent self this weekend. Sevilla managed to draw Atletico 1-1, but it was hard to find too much fault with Courtois for the goal. Don't take my word for it though, form your own opinion by watching it below.

    • Sam Walker - Walker was pretty good this weekend for Yeovil. He only conceded once off of a deflection, but it wasn't a particularly commanding performance form the young giant. Crosses and set pieces still need a lot of work...
    • Rhys Taylor - Taylor came back from injury to help his side to a 1-1 draw. It was a generally solid showing, and his communication with the defense has generally looked impressive. Keep up the good work.
    • Matej Delac - Delac was again an unused substitute who watched from the bench. I imagine it will take injury or suspension for Delac to get a shot.
    • Josh McEachran - Josh was also an unused substitute over the weekend.
    • Ben Gordon - Gordon had his usual solid display for Killie, putting in 90 minutes as the side managed a draw. Unfortunately for Ben, nothing he's really done since rejoining Killie has stood out.
