I'm sorry I don't have more to say about this right now (I'm packing up for a trip to Holland), but Chelsea have gone into great detail about their studies to expand without leaving the Stamford Bridge site, and it doesn't look like they'll be able to do it. I'm not overly familiar with UK planning laws, since I've only done significant work in the industry in the States, but nothing about the release strikes me as disingenuous. Expanding Stamford Bridge or building a new stadium on the site was always going to be virtually impossibly from a architectural point of view. Good work by the Chelsea board, in my opinion, and the members of the CPO present at the meeting seem to agree. Chelsea need to move if they want to a bigger stadium.
