Sturridge is eager.

There is an upside to Torres being wrongly sent off on Sunday, a space in the squad has opened up, giving an opportunity for our own Daniel Sturridge to show us all what he is truly made of. To lead the line for Chelsea FC.

Daniel is immensely talented, that there can be no doubt, the issue here is his questionable devotion to team-play. He made us all doubt him by seemingly ignoring most of his team mates in trying to cut in from the right and score 20 yard screamers at the beginning of last season. He is young, he is eager, he is a striker. His attributes; blistering pace, strong left foot and quick feet led Villas Boas to, quite understandably, use him as a winger. However, I think we all know where he'd rather be.

I believe in Sturridge. He impressed me as a youth player at Man City, stealing a goal against Barcelona. He impressed me as a Center Forward during his loan spell at Bolton, netting 8 goals in 12 appearances. When given the chance he impressed me last season as well. He is a natural goal scorer, he doesn't belong on the wing. If RDM gives him more than a few games as the main man upfront I guarantee he will impress. If Torres didn't cost 50 million he already would be.

Daniel Sturridge has all the physical qualities a young Fernando Torres once had, I say give him a few games and see what he can do.
