Report: John Terry will not appeal FA ban

Mike Hewitt

It sounds like the John Terry racial abuse saga is finally over. After almost a year of waiting for the ultimate fallout over the incident between Chelsea's captain and Anton Ferdinand during the Blues' 1-0 loss at Loftus Road, TalkSport are claiming that Terry will not appeal the FA-mandated four-match ban, a move which would draw to a close a story that's been -- to put it mildly -- extremely unsavoury.

There are now some serious questions to be asked if TalkSport are correct. Does Terry's refusal to appeal mean a tacit admission of guilt? How will Chelsea, a club which purports to take a zero-tolerance stance on racism, react to having their captain suspended for abusing Ferdinand? How will the fans (many of whom, including myself, would consider themselves part of a minority group) take this? And, of course, there's the footballing concern of having a central defender suspended for what looks to be four very tough matches.

These questions will be answered over the next few days and weeks. For now... well, keep your eyes peeled for confirmation.
