Salomon Kalou Stretchered Off At The Africa Cup Of Nations

Chelsea players have a habit of picking up injuries at the Africa Cup of Nations and now it's Salomon Kalou's turn. Kalou's been excellent so far in the tournament, having assisted a Didier Drogba goal during the Ivory Coast's win against Sudan, and he was one of the best players on the pitch against Burkina Faso, scoring a wonderful volley and generally causing chaos and looking miles better than Arsenal's Gervinho.

Unfortunately, that particular outing has been curtailed by what looks like a hamstring injury - Kalou was sprinting up the pitch only to start limping mid-stride, and while he was able to tough it out for a couple of seconds and pass the ball away, he was clearly in a good deal of distress and ended up going down in a heap. After a few minutes of treatment, he's been stretchered off and replaced by Max-Alain Gradel.

I know Kalou's not the most popular figure amongst Chelsea fans, but he's been a reliable, underrated goalscorer for us and has been extremely impressive in this tournament. At this point, nobody's really sure how severe the injury is (we will, of course, update y'all when we get a prognosis), but if we lose him just as he's looking to find his form... well, that'd be pretty unfortunate.
