Even though the summer transfer window just ended I can't help but think ahead to January. Will Chelsea return for Modric (doubtful)? Will they go for Eden Hazard or Mario Goetze (maybe)? All these questions got me thinking who I would like to see sit at the press conference table as a new signing next to a beaming AVB. Here's what I would like to see happen in the next transfer window:
Dominik Masek: The Czech has boatloads of talent and has been linked to Chelsea heavily. Between now and January I'd love to see Chelsea fork out the small fee, (probably around 500,000) and bring him into the youth ranks.I liken him with Anjur Osmanovic who has just started showing his skills.
Gerard Deulofeu: In my mind Barca's best prospect behind the magical Thiago would cost (reportedly) a mere three million euros. Dribbling and finishing skills are more than tantalizing. He would make a perfect compliment to Lucas Piazon as a new exciting youth signing.
Kevin De Bruyne: He would fit in quite well with the young Belgian movement at CFC. For 9 million euros Chelsea will get a cannon of a shot and great offensive creativity. If he is signed in January I think a loan move would be needed for him to Develop.
Samuel Inkoom: Yes, Jose Bosingwa has been brilliant so far this season but that does not mask the need for a future right back option. Inkoom would cost a relatively cheap 10 million from Dnipro and would give young talent on the right side.
Wallace: Of the three young Brazilians we got in the Deco deal I'm most excited about Wallace. I love his play when watching him for the Brazilian youth squads and think he has quite a lot of talent at the right back position. Chelsea should definitely tie him up in January and bring him in with Lucas Piazon.
I passed up on Eden Hazard and Mario Goetze because they would each cost 35-40 million and are not needed. It would be great to have them in the team (I certainly wouldn't complain) but we have to look ahead to FFP. The options I listed above would put us in 20-25 million range (not quite sure how to value Wallace). Were getting more talent for our money than splashing well over 30 on one terrific player. It's time for Chelsea to be more economical in their decision making. We certainly did that this summer with some great money saving moves. Now we can keep it going in January while still getting tons of young talent.
